Raman K. Nurani, Ph.D., Vice President, Algorithm Research

Dr. Nurani, Ph.D., joined DFMSim as Vice President, Algorithm Research in December 2008. He started the Indian subsidiary of DFMSim in Chennai, India.

Dr. Nurani has over 20 years of experience in the area of yield management, statistical modeling, manufacturing process control, and global engineering team management in the semiconductor industry. Before joining DFMSim, Dr. Nurani served as the Director of the Board of KLA-Tencor India in Chennai beginning is 2004. He started KLA-Tencor’s Indian subsidiary in Chennai and was the first Managing Director of KLA-Tencor India. During his tenure, he built a multi-functional engineering and applications teams. During the period 1993-2004, he held several positions in research & development, marketing, applications, algorithm and engineering management functions at KLA-Tencor, CA, USA. Prior to this, he worked for Sundram Fasteners, a TVS group company in Chennai, India in engineering design and manufacturing systems from 1984 to 1990.
Dr. Nurani earned a bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, MBA degree from Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai, and M.S and Ph.D. in Management of Manufacturing and Automation from Carnegie Mellon University, USA. He has published several papers in journals and conferences including IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing.
