Christian Kalus, Ph.D.

Dr. Kalus founded SIGMA-C following a diverse career in academia, research and entrepreneurship.  SIGMA-C was acquired by Synopsys in 2006.

Before founding SIGMA-C, Dr. Kalus was co-founder and CEO of ISI Systems, a contract software and solutions provider for European clients.  He was also Assistant Professor of Crystallography at the University of Munich.  Dr. Kalus began his career in the corporate research laboratories of Siemens AG, where he helped develop methods for quality control in integrated circuits. 

He is the author or co-author of many technical papers in the field of microlithography, with an emphasis on optical microlithography simulation and e-beam proximity effect correction.  In 2002, Dr. Kalus received the Georg Waeber Innovation Award for Microelectronics in recognition of his work on rigorous electromagnetic field simulation.

He has a diploma degree in crystallography and a Ph.D. in natural sciences from the University of Munich.
